Palawan is expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Sunday, December 21, due to the continued effect of the easterlies, the state weather bureau said.
Rainfall over the province may be accompanied by thunderstorms, which could lead to localized flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Temperatures in Puerto Princesa are forecast to range from 24 to 31 degrees Celsius.
Despite the rainy conditions, the weather bureau said there is no low pressure area being monitored inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
“Makikita natin sa ating latest satellite images, wala po tayong minomonitor na low pressure area sa loob at labas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility,” forecaster Obet Badrina said.
The easterlies are also bringing rain to large parts of the Visayas and the eastern section of Mindanao, while other areas of Luzon and Mindanao may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening.
The northeast monsoon or amihan continues to affect the country and may strengthen in the coming days, possibly leading to moderate to rough sea conditions, especially during thunderstorms.
The PAGASA said the chance of a tropical cyclone forming within the next three to five days remains low, including through Christmas, but monitoring will continue.
