Palawan to experience fair weather with chances of thunderstorms today

Palawan will have generally fair weather today, June 26, but residents are advised to brace for possible localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, according to the state weather bureau.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster Chenel Dominguez said the remaining parts of Palawan, including Puerto Princesa, will see a mix of sun and clouds, with temperatures ranging from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.

Kalayaan Islands, which lies in the West Philippine Sea, may experience cloudy skies and scattered rain showers caused by the southwest monsoon or habagat.

The weather bureau added that while a tropical cyclone was spotted 1,045 kilometers west of extreme Northern Luzon, it remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility and is not expected to affect any part of the country directly.

Nationwide, the southwest monsoon continues to affect the western parts of Central and Southern Luzon. Areas such as Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro may see afternoon and evening rains.

Meanwhile, the intertropical convergence zone is bringing rain to eastern Mindanao, particularly in Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, and Davao de Oro.

There are no gale warnings in effect.
