The provincial government, in partnership with the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), took steps to strengthen Palawan’s participation in the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) through a Post-Strategic Planning Meeting (SPM) held on March 25 at the Victoriano J. Rodriguez Hall in the Capitol.
The session reviewed outcomes from the recent BIMP-EAGA Strategic Planning Meeting in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, where the Philippines led discussions on regional initiatives.
National agencies, local government units, and private sector representatives joined the Palawan SPM to align local priorities with regional development goals.
Key areas highlighted include transportation, energy, digital connectivity, trade facilitation, agribusiness, tourism, environmental protection, and socio-cultural and educational programs aimed at promoting inclusive growth.
Governor Amy Roa Alvarez welcomed the delegates and assured full support for projects that would boost Palawan’s development and regional engagement.
The Post-SPM will continue on March 26 to finalize plans and strengthen coordination among stakeholders, ensuring the province’s active role in implementing BIMP-EAGA projects.
