The Palawan provincial government has placed livelihood assistance for adolescent mothers among the priorities of its population and development programs.
The proposed support was discussed during the 2026 Palawan Provincial Population and Development Committee meeting in Puerto Princesa City on August 6.
However, officials have yet to disclose the type of livelihood assistance, budget, qualifications, number of beneficiaries, and implementation schedule.
The meeting brought together representatives of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office and municipal population officers to review existing commitments, program directions and concerns affecting population and development initiatives.
The PSWDO led the discussions under Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Abigail D. Ablaña.
Aside from livelihood support for adolescent mothers, participants discussed program targets, upcoming activities and the use of consistent data for planning and implementation. They also identified issues and gaps affecting population programs in municipalities.
Commission on Population and Development MIMAROPA Acting Assistant Regional Director Mark O. Guilles said Palawan has the largest number of permanent population officers in the region.
“We, the CPD, congratulate the Province of Palawan for having the largest number of plantilla Population Officers in the region. This reflects the province’s strong commitment to institutionalizing Population and Development programs and ensuring their sustainability at the local level,” Guilles said.
The provincial government said its population and development initiatives form part of the PALAWAN + PLUS Development Agenda of Governor Amy Roa Alvarez.
