State weather forecasters are closely watching cloud clusters east of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as these may develop into a new weather system in the coming days.
Weather specialist Obet Badrina said the latest satellite images show a cluster that could strengthen while moving toward the country.
“May posibilidad na itong cloud cluster… ay posibleng maging low pressure area sa mga susunod na araw at papasok ng Philippine Area of Responsibility,” he said.
Badrina said the cloud clusters have no direct effect for now.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon is bringing light rain over Batanes, while easterlies are causing isolated thunderstorms in parts of Luzon and the Visayas. The intertropical convergence zone is bringing rain over eastern Visayas and the Davao region.
Most areas in Luzon will have clear skies in the morning followed by thunderstorms in the afternoon. Similar conditions are expected in Palawan, western and central Visayas, and parts of Mindanao.
No gale warning is raised, but the agency said small boats should still be careful during thunderstorms.
Forecasters expect the northeast monsoon to strengthen by midweek. The trough of the cloud cluster may bring rain to eastern Visayas, Bicol, southern Luzon, and parts of Mindanao by Thursday or Friday.
