The state weather bureau reported Tuesday that a tropical cyclone may form inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) before October 5.
Weather forecaster Obet Badrina said no low-pressure area (LPA) is currently being monitored, but cloud clusters east of Luzon are being observed for possible development into a disturbance.
“Bagamat sa ngayon ay wala pa tayong low-pressure area na minomonitor, makikita natin may cloud clusters dito sa may labas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility,” Badrina said.
Based on PAGASA’s Tropical Cyclone Threat Potential covering September 29 to October 5, the possible cyclone could affect Central or Northern Luzon if it enters the country’s boundary.
For today, localized thunderstorms will bring rains over parts of Central and Southern Luzon, Western and Eastern Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula. These are expected to last briefly.
“Normally, tumatagal po yan ng mga isa hanggang dalawang oras,” Badrina said.
Elsewhere, the easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains in Bicol, Quezon, Bulacan, Rizal, and Metro Manila, while the rest of Luzon and Mindanao will have generally fair weather with isolated showers.
No gale warning has been raised, and coastal waters are expected to remain slight to moderate.
