The state weather bureau said on Monday that two to four tropical cyclones are expected to enter or develop inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this September.
Based on climatological tracks, DOST-PAGASA noted that some tropical cyclones may take recurving paths toward Japan and Taiwan, while others could head toward northern Luzon, Hong Kong, or Vietnam.
“For September, dalawa hanggang apat na bagyo or tropical cyclones ang ating inaasahan,” weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said.
“Yung mga bagyong ganito yung track, inaasahan natin na maliit yung chance na magkaroon ng direct effect sa ating bansa at less likely rin ito na palalakasin o paiiralin yung ating southwest monsoon o yung hangi habagat,” he added.
As of early Monday, a low pressure area was spotted 695 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte. He said it has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours.
However, combined with the habagat, it will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over Central and Southern Luzon, including Metro Manila, and the Visayas.
