More than 70 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) from different barangays in Balabac received free mobile phones from GCash Telecommunication.
The distribution, held on July 2 and 3, aimed to help the beneficiaries improve their digital financial literacy and prepare them to use technology for financial transactions such as receiving aid, paying bills, and managing savings through platforms like GCash.
“Malaking ginhawa po ito para sa amin. Ngayon, mas madali na po naming matatanggap ang tulong pinansyal, makakapag-load, at makakabayad kahit hindi na pupunta pa sa bayan,” a 4Ps parent leader in Balabac said.
“Ang pagkakaroon ng sariling smartphone ay isang hakbang upang mas mapaunlad ang aming kaalaman at kakayahan sa pamamahala ng pera,” another beneficiary said.
GCash said the activity was part of its advocacy with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to support digital empowerment for families in need.
