More than 13,000 residents in Sofronio Española received medical, social, agricultural, and legal services during the delivery of the provincial government’s YAKAP Program, led by Palawan Governor Amy Roa Alvarez from November 19 to 21.
The services were brought to nine barangays, including Panitian, Punang, Iraray, Pulot Interior, Pulot Center, Pulot Shore, Abo Abo, Isumbo, and Labog. Governor Alvarez urged residents to participate and make use of the assistance.
“Ang YAKAP Program po ay sinimulan ko noong ako ay alkalde pa at ngayon ay nais ko itong ipagpatuloy sa buong lalawigan ng Palawan sa lahat ng mga barangay. Ihahatid ko po ang mga serbisyo sa inyo… samantalahin niyo po ito at i avail ang mga services,” she said.
The governor said the program includes medical and dental missions and support for the province’s 16 hospitals.
“Gagawin ko po ang pinangako ko sa inyo, bigyan niyo lamang ako ng konting panahon. Maraming salamat po at i enjoy natin ang serbisyo ng gobyerno,” she added.
The Provincial Health Office provided medical and dental services, while the Provincial Veterinary Office conducted on site rabies vaccination.
Other services included scholarship orientation, social welfare assistance, vegetable seed distribution, civil society registration, and free legal aid.
Partner agencies and units also joined the rollout, including the Palawan Provincial Mobile Force Company, Philippine Marines, Amy Action Center, JCA for Progress Movement, Municipal Civil Registrar, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Palawan Council for Sustainable Development, Community Affairs Division, Livelihood Project Management Unit, Public Employment Services Office, Provincial Anti Drug Abuse Program, MADAC, and the Municipal Police Station.
Governor Alvarez also highlighted support for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, including the provision of maintenance medicines.
