More than ₱14 million has been collected by the Puerto Princesa City Government from 1,079 business owners who renewed their permits within the first seven days of the renewal period, from January 5 to 11, 2026.
The city government said the collection was the result of a directive from Lucilo Bayron to simplify and speed up the process, and to stop requiring business owners to go back and forth when completing documents to legalize their operations.
Officials also cited the role of the city’s Business One Stop Shop program, which operated even on Saturdays and Sundays at the New Green City Hall, as well as the extension of daily working hours to accommodate more applicants.
In addition, payment and renewal counters were opened at the city public market and at the Puerto Princesa Underground River Office in Mendoza Park during scheduled hours, allowing business owners to pay outside City Hall and helping reduce long queues.
The city government advised business owners to renew early and not wait for the January 20 deadline to avoid penalties and surcharges.
Business owners who are able to renew and pay the required taxes on January 12, until 8:00 p.m., may avail of a 10% discount upon presentation of the required documents.
Revenues collected from business permit renewals are used by the city government to fund development programs and projects under the current administration.
