An outdated security advisory against the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has resurfaced online, prompting clarification from airport authorities and the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
A post circulating on social media shows a digital announcement at Sacramento International Airport warning against travel to NAIA, supposedly issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This caused confusion among travelers and the public.
The New NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC) immediately contacted the TSA to verify the information. In response, the TSA confirmed that there is no current travel advisory in effect against NAIA.
“There is no current travel advisory against NAIA,” the TSA confirmed, according to the NNIC.
The agency further clarified that “the advisory shown in the image was issued in December 2018 and was rescinded in August 2019.” It also explained that “the image is outdated and was accidentally reposted by an airline. It has already been taken down.”
The TSA conducts regular security assessments of NAIA every six months. According to the NNIC, “the most recent assessment, in February 2025, showed major improvements and was the first since 2019 with no new findings.”
“We thank the TSA for quickly confirming the facts and for their continued partnership,” the NNIC said in its statement, assuring the public of the airport’s commitment to maintaining high security standards.
