The state weather bureau reported Tuesday that no low pressure area is affecting the country and that there is a low chance of a tropical cyclone forming within the Philippine Area of Responsibility this week.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), easterlies and a shear line are the three weather systems bringing rain to several regions.
“Wala tayong minomonitor na anumang low pressure area sa loob at labas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility,” said Badrina.
The ITCZ will bring rain over BARMM and Soccsksargen, while easterlies will bring rain across Aurora, Quezon and the Bicol region.
The shear line will bring rain to Cagayan, Isabela and Apayao. Metro Manila and most of Luzon and the Visayas will have fair weather with chances of localized thunderstorms.
In Northern Luzon, the northeast monsoon has started to strengthen and will continue over the week. A gale warning is raised over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands due to strong winds and rough seas.
In Palawan, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are expected except in the Kalayaan Island Group, where the ITCZ brings a higher chance of rain. Large parts of the Visayas will also have scattered rain and thunderstorms.
Mindanao will see the effect of the ITCZ in BARMM and Soccsksargen, while the rest of the region will have fair weather with possible thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius across key cities.
“Malaki yung posibilidad ng mga pagulan ngayong araw dito sa may barm at sa may SOC Sargen region,” said Badrina.
PAGASA said no storm is expected to form inside or outside the PAR in the next three to five days.
