The National Food Authority (NFA) Palawan Branch has begun shipping 10,000 bags of well-milled rice to NFA districts in the National Capital Region as part of the agency’s redistribution of buffer stocks.
Loading started Monday, September 14, with 400 bags initially loaded by Fast Logistics Corp. from the NFA warehouse in Narra.
The rice shipment is bound for the NFA Central District and NFA East District in Antipolo, according to the NFA Palawan Branch.
“Patuloy ang pagkilos ng National Food Authority (NFA) upang matiyak ang maayos na pamamahagi ng bigas at mapalakas ang food security sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa,” the NFA Palawan Branch said in its announcement.
The agency said the movement of stocks is part of its continuing coordination and management of its buffer supply to respond to areas requiring additional rice.
“The pagpapadala ng rice stocks sa ibang area ay bahagi ng patuloy na coordination at management ng NFA Palawan Branch sa buffer stocks upang makatugon sa pangangailangan ng mga lugar na nangangailangan ng karagdagang suplay,” it said.
The redistribution also helps free up warehouse space in Palawan, allowing the NFA to continue buying palay from local farmers.
“Kasabay nito, ang rice dispersal ay nagbibigay-daan din sa mas maayos na warehouse space management, na mahalaga upang patuloy na makapag-procure ng palay mula sa ating mga lokal na magsasaka,” the agency said.
The NFA Palawan Branch said the shipment forms part of its efforts to maintain sufficient rice stocks and support food security across the country.
“Sa bawat sako ng bigas na naipapadala, patuloy na ginagampanan ng NFA ang tungkulin nitong maging maaasahang katuwang sa pagpapanatili ng sapat at matatag na suplay ng bigas para sa bansa,” it said.
