The National Food Authority (NFA) Palawan took part in a nationwide market inspection aimed at ensuring fair trade and protecting consumers from overpricing of rice, as government agencies intensified monitoring of compliance with rice regulations.
The activity was conducted in coordination with the Department of Agriculture (DA) MIMAROPA, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen enforcement of pricing and labeling standards in rice retail markets.
According to the NFA Palawan, the inspection sought to ensure strict compliance with Executive Order No. 118, Series of 2026, particularly on proper pricing, correct labeling, and adherence to existing regulations on rice sales.
“Layunin ng aktibidad na masiguro ang mahigpit na pagpapatupad at pagsunod sa mga probisyon ng Executive Order No. 118, Series of 2026, partikular sa tamang pagpepresyo, wastong paglalabel, at pagsunod sa umiiral na mga regulasyon sa pagbebenta ng bigas upang mapangalagaan ang kapakanan ng mga mamimili,” NFA Palawan said.
The inspection covered rice retailers at the Old Market and New Market in Puerto Princesa City, where representatives from the different agencies checked compliance with government standards to ensure sufficient, safe, and affordable rice supply for consumers.
Authorities said the coordinated market visits are part of continuing government measures to stabilize rice prices, promote transparency in trading practices, and protect consumers from unfair pricing in local markets.
