The National Food Authority (NFA) in Palawan is eyeing to transfer to its new office either in June or July this year.
Nerilyn Conde, NFA assistant provincial manager said their new office in Barangay Sta. Monica, Puerto Princesa City is now 45 percent complete.
“We are expecting na April and May, ma-complete na ‘yong construction, June or July ay makalipat na. We are very positive na makakalipat na kami ng bagong building, nakakalungkot na iiwan na namin ito,” she said.
However, she said their warehouse will remain at the old location because there is not enough land area and insufficient fund for its transfer.
The old building may turn into a staff house and conference hall as soon as employees transfer to the new location, she added.
Meanwhile, because of the removal of the licensing and enforcement function of the NFA, the two affected employees of the local office will be assigned to the operations division, Conde said.
Their new function will include the procurement of palay, distribution of rice and field works for the agency.
