The National Food Authority (NFA) Palawan Branch continues its test milling operations at the NFA Narra Grains Industry Development (GID) facility as part of efforts to maintain disaster preparedness and ensure sufficient rice buffer stocks in the province.
The agency said stored palay that has reached the appropriate milling age is currently being processed to sustain rice supplies intended for immediate public needs, particularly during calamities and emergencies.
Rice recoveries from the milling operations will serve as replenishment for stocks already distributed and sold by the NFA to government agencies, including the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and for the implementation of the P20 Rice Program.
The milling activities are being conducted through the LGU Narra Rice Processing System.
The NFA said quality control measures remain in place to ensure that all rice returned to the agency complies with established standards.
“Tinitiyak naman ng pamunuan ng NFA na ang mga bigas na ibinabalik sa ahensya ay dumaraan sa wastong proseso at naaayon sa itinakdang pamantayan upang masiguro ang maayos at de-kalidad na suplay ng bigas para sa publiko,” the agency said.
The operations form part of the NFA’s continuing food security efforts under its campaign slogan, “Sa Serbisyong Patas at Tapat, Bigas ay Laging Dekalidad.”
