Barangay Napsan in Puerto Princesa City held a turnover of two Level II Gravity-Fed Water Supply Systems recently, marking the first KALAHI-CIDSS sub-project completed in a Highly Urbanized City under the KALAHI-CIDSS Pag-abot initiative.
The ceremony on November 17 in Purok Maligaya gathered residents, volunteers, and partner agencies involved in the water system project.
Barangay Captain Gerry M. Acosta led the event, opening with messages of gratitude, followed by a ribbon cutting signaling access to water for families in Purok Maligaya and Mabuhay.
Community member Josefa Montenegro recalled the neighborhood’s work, noting the teamwork and challenges behind the project.
The signing of the Certificate of Turnover and Acceptance formalized cooperation among the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the barangay, and the operations and maintenance groups led by Ian Paul Buncag and Jonarose Rivera.
Deputy Regional Program Manager Engr. Raymond B. Libarra said the project shows the strength of the Community-Driven Development approach in urban areas.
Partner agencies, including the Puerto Princesa City Water District and the City Social Welfare and Development Office, said the water system represents unity.
The event also recognized mural painting contest winners and project partners.
Herminigilda Eleazar ended the program with a message about the community’s work.
With the water system now operational, Napsan families will have access to water, showing how KALAHI-CIDSS Pag-abot continues to support community development.
