Nacpan and Las Cabanas beaches in El Nido were cited by TripAdvisor, Inc., a U.S. travel and restaurant website company, as among the 25 best beaches in Asia in its Travelers’ Choice Awards 2019.
Nacpan beach in Barangay Bucana and Las Cabanas in Barangay Corong-Corong ranked 13th and 22nd respectively in this year’s TripAdvisor, Inc. top list despite the controversial environmental issues El Nido is continuously facing.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has given the El Nido municipal government six months to clean up the town, including the quality of its water which has been found to be with high fecal coliform levels.
Nacpan has been described by TripAdvisor, Inc. reviewers as “a 3-kilometer white sand beach with amazing pure water that joins another beach.”
“It is the best beach in El Nido if you want a calm day just laying on the beach, it is the perfect place. There are 2-3 restaurants there, not much options for breakfast but good for lunch and drinks,” said reviewer Yagmur Dincer from Little India, Singapore.
Francis Casilva Baeza of Cairns, Australia also described it as a beach that you cannot miss because “you can enjoy the day with good environment. The water was delicious and the view really beautiful.”
Las Cabanas beach, on the other hand, was described by traveler dmonteiro6 of Lisbon, Portugal as “one of the best beaches” he has ever been to.
“It is next to Maremegmeg beach which is also amazing. Fresh coconut is just PHP50. Take some footwear because there are some small rocks that can hurt you along with shells and coral,” he said.
Radhanagar Beach on Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands ranked as the top beach in Asia followed by Kelingking Beach in Nusa Penida, Bali on the second spot, and Nai Harn Beach in Thailand and Agonda Beach in India are ranked 3rd and 4th respectively.
