EL NIDO, Palawan — The local agriculture office is set to distribute some 3,000 vegetable seedlings which it plans to distribute to over 1,500 households.

Virginia Balderas, head of the El Nido Municipal Agriculturist Office (MAO), said this will the second round of seed distribution to encourage households to do home gardening while a quarantine is in place.

“Mas kailangan natin ngayon ang magtanim kahit sa ating mga bahay o bakuran man lang o kahit sa mga paso lang kasi malaki ang maitutulong nito sa kalagayan natin ngayon,” she said.

Balderas said that aside from this, the municipal government has also purchased 31 additional water pumps which will be provided to identified farmer-beneficiaries that cost P400,000.

Some P200,000-worth of vegetable seeds will also be given to support local farmers and households.

Fertilizes were given alongside the vegetable seeds. Repacked seeds include bitter gourd, squash, ladies fingers, Chinese cabbage, string beans, baguio beans, bottle gourd, eggplant and Tomatoes, corn seeds among others.

‘Itong mga fetilizers at seedlings na ito ay suporta galing sa ating Department of Agriculture (DA) sa rehiyon at probinsya at lokal na pamahalaan,” Balderas added.
