The long-planned modern fish port complex in San Vicente took a major step forward after local officials and the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority signed agreements for the project’s overall planning and design in Quezon City.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and Memorandum of Agreement was held at the agency’s conference hall and led by PFDA Acting General Manager Glenn Pangapalan and San Vicente Mayor Ramir Rodriguez Pablico.
The project involves the proposed San Vicente Modern Fish Port Complex to be built in Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Poblacion.
Local officials said the facility is expected to strengthen San Vicente’s fishing industry by providing a modern hub for the processing and distribution of seafood products.
Prior to the signing, officials discussed the project’s proposed design, documentary requirements, and other preparatory matters needed for implementation.
Also present during the activity were OMABE Officer Engr. Aldorace Jane J. Avira, Atty. Jose R. Ruiz III, Romirose Padin, Atty. Mark Laurence Y. Cortes, Engr. Nonie A. Sumaliling, Engr. Mark Lester R. Red, Aravela S. Jimenez, Patti Angel Honera, and Robert Gregory Elardo.
The local government said the fish port project is expected to improve the quality and safety of marine products, reduce post-harvest losses, and create additional livelihood and employment opportunities for residents.
Officials also described the project as a long-awaited development aimed at boosting the municipality’s fisheries sector and local economy.
