A woman identified only as “Mona” was found unresponsive at a fish cage in Barangay Poblacion, Araceli, Palawan, on the morning of December 14, according to local authorities.
The Palawan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) said Sunday that a concerned citizen reported the discovery of the body to the Araceli Municipal Police Station at around 8:30 a.m.
Initial investigation claimed that Mona had left their residence at around 5 a.m. on the same day, after seeking permission from her live-in partner to gather seafood along the seashore.
Her partner later went to prepare his work belongings but, upon returning to check on her, he could not locate her.
The search continued until 8:30 a.m., when her body was found at the fish cage.
The Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Araceli conducted a medical examination of the body. The attending physician declared drowning as the cause of death.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the incident as the investigation is still ongoing.
