Six minors were brought to the police station after their alleged involvement in a theft at a food canteen along H. Mendoza Street in Puerto Princesa City on Sunday night, July 21.
The suspects, aged between 13 and 17, are all residents of the city.
A report from the City Anti-Crime Task Force (ACTF), through We R1 At Your Service, stated that a concerned citizen alerted them about the incident.
The concerned citizen said they confronted the minors, prompting them to flee. They managed to grab one of the suspects but let go after the teen reportedly reached for something from his side. The witness then sought help from authorities.
Responding personnel from the City ACTF caught one of the suspects inside the canteen. The minor later pointed out his companions, who were also arrested.
The owner of the canteen, identified as Jo, 59, said no large amount of money was taken, explaining that she does not leave cash inside the store.
A security guard admitted he saw the minors inside the establishment but assumed they came from the church located above the building, so he did not stop them.
The arrested minors have since been turned over to the police station for proper handling.
