ROXAS, Oriental Mindoro — The Roxas Gymnasium here served as the venue for an intimate wedding between an inmate or person deprived of liberty (PDL) and his long-time partner on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
The town’s mayor officiated the mass ceremony in front of the couple’s close family and friends.
For BJMP Mimaropa information officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo, the event serves as an inspiration among PDLs to focus on reform and become a better individual.
“They look forward to being reunited with their families after serving their jail time,” Anglos said.
The PDL and his wife, who have one child, were grateful for the opportunity to finally get married and receive legal recognition.
“The PDL wedding is part of BJMP’s commitment to strengthening family values, unity, and love—the foundation of a strong community,” he added.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Roxas District Jail and the principal wedding sponsors provided bridal bouquets, rings, sumptuous wedding receptions, and even the wedding gowns and barongs of the bride and groom.
