The Philippine pilgrimage of the replica image of Our Lady of Guadalupe formally began at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros on June 13, marking the start of a six-month spiritual journey across the country.
Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Archbishop Gilbert Garcera said the pilgrimage will run until Dec. 12 and will bring the image to various cathedrals, shrines, and parish churches nationwide.
“The image shall visit different cathedrals, shrines, and parish churches across the country, and shall also be present during the CBCP 132nd Plenary Assembly on July 3-10, 2026,” Garcera said in a statement.
He added that the initiative is meant to deepen Filipino devotion and faith.
“This visit aims to bring us, Filipinos, closer to Our Lord Jesus Christ and our Blessed Mother,” he said.
Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula led the opening Mass at 3 p.m. on June 13, while the image was made available for veneration from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily during its stay at the cathedral.
The image will remain at the Manila Cathedral until June 18 before continuing its nationwide tour.
Garcera said that throughout the pilgrimage, the Act of Consecration and Entrustment to Our Lady of Guadalupe will be recited in all Masses in participating churches.
The devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe has long been recognized in the Philippines, with Pope Pius XI declaring her the “Celestial Patroness of the Philippines” in 1935, while the CBCP later named her the “Pro-Life Patroness of the Philippines” in 2002.
