The province’s nutrition office has reported that Palawan’s malnutrition prevalence rate dropped to 82% this year, an improvement from 88% in 2023.
Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Rachel Paladan made this report to the members of the Provincial Nutrition Committee-Technical Working Group as part of the Operation Plus Timbang (OPT) of the National Nutrition Council (NNC)-MIMAROPA on November 18.
Paladan attributed the decline to the continued focus of the provincial government on health programs and its collaboration with various agencies.
NNC-MIMAROPA recently recognized Palawan for its sustained reduction in the malnutrition prevalence rate (MPR) and its improvement of nutrition programs for Palaweño children.
