The Civil Service Commission and several institutions have recognized the Senate leadership led by acting Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian, prompting Sen. Panfilo Lacson to tell Senate employees there should be no confusion over the chain of command.
In a national radio interview, Lacson said the recognition given to the Gatchalian-led majority bloc shows that the chain of command in the Senate is clear despite claims from the camp of former Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.
“Maliwanag naman sa atin kung sinong kinikilala ng Malacanang, ng House of Representatives, ng Civil Service Commission, ng IBP, at kung ano-ano pa ang mga grupo, kung sinong kinikilala talaga na liderato sa Senate,” Lacson said.
He also accused Cayetano of creating confusion within the chamber by issuing directives that he said do not carry official authority.
“So maliwanag na panggulo yung ginagawa ni Senator Alan, no, with all due respect, na nakaka-confuse, nakakagulo,” he added.
Lacson said Gatchalian has been meeting with department heads and committee secretaries to remind them to follow only lawful and official orders.
He said the Senate leadership has assured employees that it will protect them as the leadership dispute continues.
