The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has temporarily stopped the operations of Backride Pinas after the company failed to complete its legal documents, following a hearing held on November 24.
LTFRB OIC Angelo Quinto said the company was given five days to submit all required papers for its operation in the city. He warned that Backride Pinas may face penalties if it continues to operate without authorization.
Quinto said the LTFRB’s mandate under Section 416 currently covers four wheeled vehicles, while the use of motorcycles as public transport remains under discussion by the Technical Working Group.
“We can also recommend sa TWG na ma penalize sila kung may two wheels sila dito at wala silang authority,” he said.
The LTFRB said the suspension aims to ensure passenger safety, especially with the holiday season approaching. The agency added it will also look into other online transport applications to check their compliance.
Backride Pinas said it will comply and submit all required documents to resume operations once its application is approved.
