The state weather bureau said Wednesday that a low pressure area (LPA) east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon may intensify into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.
“Base sa ating pinakahuling pag-aanalisa ay mataas ang chance na mabuo ito bilang isang bagyo within the next 24 hours,” PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz-Galicia said.
She added that if it develops into a tropical cyclone and enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), it will be given a name.
“Sakaling maging bagyo ito at pumasok ng ating PAR ay papangalanan po natin siyang si Bagyong Fabian,” Galicia said.
Galicia added that cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Zambales.
These conditions are still due to the southwest monsoon.
No gale warning has been issued, but the bureau advised residents in extreme Northern Luzon to remain cautious as sea conditions remain rough due to the southwest monsoon.
