An island resort in Sofronio Española town is being prepared by the provincial government to become a quarantine facility for serious cases of COVID-19.

In an online press briefing Wednesday of “Pakimanan ta si Gob” through the Provincial Information Office (PIO), Governor Jose Alvarez said the owner of the island has voluntarily offered its use as an isolation facility.

King’s Paradise Island, which is located in Barangay Panitian in the said town, is owned by business magnate Antonio King

Sabi niya gamitin munang isolation island,” Gov. Alvarez said.

Alvarez said that island will be used for “critical and hopeless COVID-19 patients” to avoid possible spread.

In the meantime, Alvarez said the provincial government has also prepared isolation buildings in every district hospital.

Mayor Marsito Acoy recently told Palawan News that King’s Paradise Island was indeed proposed to be one of the isolation areas of the province.
