Sen. Jinggoy Estrada posted a ₱90,000 bail before the Sandiganbayan on May 29 in connection with graft charges linked to a multibillion-peso flood control project controversy.
Estrada appeared before the anti-graft court’s Second Division after it issued a warrant of arrest and hold departure order against him.
The senator said he is simply exercising legal remedies available under the law while continuing to deny the allegations against him.
The Office of the Ombudsman has filed plunder and graft charges against Estrada, accusing him of allegedly receiving ₱573 million in kickbacks in exchange for government flood control contracts under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The case is part of a broader investigation into alleged irregularities in large-scale infrastructure projects.
