The Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) has acquired four new tractors to strengthen its agricultural operations and reformation programs for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
IPPF said yesterday that the tractors were blessed on September 1 during the facility’s regular flag-raising ceremony, led by IPPF Superintendent C/Supt. Gary A. Garcia, RCrim, MSCA, with the participation of all personnel.
The equipment will be used in farming activities under its Work and Livelihood Program, which provides PDLs with rehabilitation opportunities through agriculture while also contributing to the facility’s food self-sufficiency.
More agricultural equipment is expected to arrive to further support the program.
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr., AFP (Ret.), through Superintendent Garcia, assured continued support for reformation programs in Iwahig.
