Ivoclar launches free dental program in Palawan

Many young Palaweño students will benefit from free dental services with the launch on July 4 of the Ivoclar Joy Outreach Program of Ivoclar Vivadent in Puerto Princesa City and the province of Palawan with the help of the Department of Education (DepEd).

The outreach program will use the Ivoclar mobile dental unit, a portable dental system. It is a compact, wheeled unit with built-in storage and attached hoses for dental tools. It includes a water supply bottle and control panels for operating instruments.

The design enables its transportation and setup in remote locations, offering dental services including cleaning, preventive care, and basic treatment.

Dr. Philipp Schneider, program head of Ivoclar, said Mendoza Elementary School and Tumarbong Elementary School were chosen as sites for the mission, bringing modern equipment and a team of experts.

“With this mobile dental unit, we can really do outreach to the villages, particularly in Roxas and other areas, and have the chance to do this. With this program, we really bring oral prevention to the young generation in far-flung areas and give them the tools that they may not be able to afford because they don’t have access to oral health,” Schneider said at the launch.

Dentists and nurses from DepEd Palawan and the Provincial Health Office (PHO) will join the outreach program. They were also trained by the team to use the new equipment.

Ivoclar aims to promote “oral health care and education” and deliver various “dental services” for Palaweño students.

“Our family-owned company [Ivoclar Vivadent] has also now selected the Philippines, especially Palawan, as the site for their Ivoclar Joy Program through Dr. Schneider. We will also try our very best to cover the day care centers in Puerto Princesa and Palawan,” said Ivoclar Philippines Group of Companies President Daniel Fenix San Agustin.

The DepEd in Palawan and Puerto Princesa, along with the provincial government represented by Board Member Juan Anton Alvarez, thanked the company for selecting Palawan as one of its corporate social responsibility sites.

“The provincial government of Palawan is very, very thankful for this mission, for this CSR of Ivoclar. This will help a lot of our children, a lot of our constituents, and a lot of our Palaweños. We welcome you and thank you for choosing Palawan,” Alvarez said in his message at the program.

Ivoclar Vivadent Inc. is a dental materials manufacturer that originated in Zurich, Switzerland and is now based in Schaan, Liechtenstein, in Central Europe, with 102 years of global operations.
