The Inagawan Sub-Colony of the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm successfully held its “HANDOG FEB-IBIG” activity on February 13, bringing Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) together with their families ahead of Valentine’s Day.
The event, held at the Medium Security Compound, highlighted the importance of family ties even within the correctional facility. The program facilitated family reunions by providing transport for visitors from Puerto Princesa Airport through the Inmates Visitation Services Unit (IVSU), aiming to ease the burden of travel expenses.
According to the press release, the initiative allowed families to “reunite with their loved ones in a meaningful and memorable way.”
Under the leadership of ISC Commander C/Insp Reynerio L. Gimpaya Jr., two PDL beneficiaries were chosen through a raffle conducted in October 2025.
“The program granted free tickets to families of selected PDL, giving them the opportunity to personally visit their loved ones,” the press release notes.
Both beneficiaries had not received visitors for the past 10 years, making the occasion particularly meaningful.
IPPF emphasized support for initiatives that strengthen family ties and well-being, as the program strengthens family connections and promotes the holistic well-being of PDL.
