Operatives of the City PNP Station 2 on Sunday broke up an illegal “tupada” or cockfighting event in Barangay Bahile, arresting three men behind it.
The suspects were identified as Christopher Dionisio Relando, 43-years old, Reynaldo Flores Pañares, 52-years old, a fisherman and Nestor Abrena Fernandez, 46-years old. All are residents of Purok Masikap.
Seized from the suspects were five fighting roosters and assorted accessories used in cockfighting.
P/Maj. Edgar Salazar, newly installed Station Commander of Puerto Princesa Police Office Station 2, said the cock fighting game had no permit from authorities.
He said their operation was part of all PNP stations’ simultaneous operations against illegal gambling and drugs.
“Simultaneous anti-criminality operations, ibig sabihin, lahat ng stations nag-coconduct ng operations against gambling, drugs and special laws mga ganung cases. Continuous operation, tuloy tuloy ‘yan pero nakakahuli tayo kadalasan sa weekends dahil may spare time sila nito,” Salazar said.
