A heated argument between a carpenter and a construction worker led to the hacking of the latter in Sitio Bubulungan, Barangay Corong-Corong, El Nido.

Palawan Provincial Police Office (PPO) spokesperson P/Capt. Ric Ramos identified the hacking victim as Sandy C. Areolan, 45, and the suspect as Ronald G. Lagrosa, 38, both residents of the town.

Ramos said both were drinking in the house of the suspect when an argument erupted. Lagrosa allegedly got his bolo and chased the victim.

Areolan ran to his house to hide but the suspect followed him and hacked him multiple times.

Areolan was rushed to a clinic in El Nido where he was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Javier Villanueva.

The suspect was arrested and is now under the custody of the El Nido police station.
