Gov. Amy promises crackdown on Capitol anomalies

Governor Amy Alvarez issued Monday a stern warning to provincial government officials to either shape up or ship out as she attended the first flag ceremony as chief executive of the province.

Governor Amy said she means business and that she is “here to work.”

“Sana naman you work with me to achieve our vision, my vision for Palawan,” Alvarez said, referring to the five-point agenda she presented during her inaugural address last June 30.

She said she plans to accomplish her five goals in the next three years together with employees to bring the provincial government closer to the people. She also noted her observation that in the past three years, the capitol had no goals and no vision.

“And that is the ultimate goal because when we bring the government closer to the people, it means na every person will feel na nandito tayo para sa kanila,” she explained.

“I want you to know that in the next three years, I will work tirelessly. Lahat ng mga bagong empleyado ngayon, sana naman ganun din kayo. I’m giving you all chances to work,” she emphasized.

The governor then called on frontline offices, particularly the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, to be friendly and approachable when dealing with constituents, especially those coming from island municipalities.

“Give them the patience, give them the opportunity to ask you for help and give them your help para naman hindi sila madismaya when they come to the capitol. Yun ang goal natin – to serve our people,” she said.

She then said she has heard of many anomalies that happened at the capitol in the last three years, which she said she will address drastically.

She said those who are just there for personal interest should stop their activities.

“I’m warning you now, if I catch you, there’s no saying sorry, straight kasuhan agad (sa) ombudsman, criminal case. No administrative suspension, no nothing to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan,” she warned.

“We are here to help the people, not help ourselves. So yung mga iba nandito na nag help yourselves na ng ilang taon, yung mga nanloloko, I know who you are. And you better know that I know you. So please, if you don’t want us to make any issues here, sana naman let’s help the whole Palawan, not ourselves,” she added.
