The state weather bureau reported that severe tropical storm Gorio has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday afternoon, August 13, and no longer poses a direct threat to any part of the country.
It was last spotted 650 kilometers northwest of extreme northern Luzon, slightly weaker than before, and continues to move away.
“Wala na rin tayo nakataas na anumang tropical cyclone wind signal number,” weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said in a Thursday morning update.
Despite Gorio’s departure, the southwest monsoon is expected to continue affecting the entire country, bringing cloudy skies and scattered rain showers.
Most of Luzon, including the Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Calabarzon, Metro Manila, Mimaropa, and the Bicol Region, will see rains throughout the day.
“Malaking bahagi ng bansa natin ang makakaranas ng mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan ngayong araw,” Dominguez added.
The Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon are expected to have generally fair weather, though afternoon and evening rains are still likely.
Metro Manila and Laoag will have temperatures between 25°C and 31°C, while Baguio will range from 16°C to 22°C.
“Wala rin naman tayong minomonitor na low pressure area or bagyo na possible makaapekto dito sa ating bansa sa mga susunod na araw,” Dominguez said.
In Palawan, the Visayas, and most parts of Mindanao, cloudy skies and scattered rain showers are also expected due to the southwest monsoon.
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen will have fair weather, with high chances of afternoon and evening rains. No gale warnings are raised in any Philippine seaboards.
