Senate sports committee chairman Bong Go encouraged athletes competing in Batang Pinoy 2019 to get involved more in sports and stay away from illegal drugs.

Sen. Go said this on Sunday during the opening of the Batang Pinoy national championships this year at the Ramon V. Mitra Sports Complex.

He said that from July 1, 2016, to July 31, 2019, the PNP had conducted a total of 163,622 anti-illegal drugs operations resulting in the arrest of more than 256,000 drug personalities, the death of more than 6,000 in police operations, and the surrender of more than 1,200,000 under Oplan Tokhang.

Go added that young people today should be involved in sports events that will not only form their endurance but also their personality as a whole.

Get into sports mga kabataan dahil kayo ang pag-asa ng bansa,” he said.
