Four wanted persons arrested in Palawan over Graphic Health Warning Law violations

Four individuals wanted for alleged violations of the Graphic Health Warning Law were arrested in separate police operations conducted in Narra, Brooke’s Point, and Sofronio Española on June 12, authorities said.

The arrests were carried out by personnel of the Narra Municipal Police Station and collaborating law enforcement agencies under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge PCPT Benjamin E. Martinez.

Police said the suspects were apprehended by virtue of warrants of arrest issued by the Municipal Trial Court in Narra for violations of Republic Act No. 10643, or the Graphic Health Warning Law.

One of the arrested individuals is facing charges under Section 6 in relation to Sections 10 and 14 of the law under Criminal Case No. 4460, while the three others were charged under Section 10 in relation to Section 14 under Criminal Case No. 4459.

Authorities said all cases carry a recommended bail of ₱30,000 for the provisional liberty of the accused.

The suspects were taken into police custody for documentation and proper disposition and will be presented before the issuing court.

“These successful operations reflect the commitment of Narra MPS and its partner units in enforcing the law, locating wanted persons, and ensuring peace, order, and public safety in the community,” the police said in a statement.

Republic Act No. 10643 requires tobacco product packages sold in the Philippines to carry graphic health warnings and prescribes penalties for violations of its provisions.
