Four more good conduct time allowance (GCTA)-released inmates have reportedly escaped from the Iwahig Corrections Facility (ICF).

Palawan Newa sources claimed the four escapees were unaccounted for Monday around 2 p.m. at their temporary holding area inside the Iwahig Corrections Facility (ICF).

Before them, seven others have escaped but five were re-apprehended immediately. Two remain the subject of a manhunt.

Due to the incident, the remaining GCTA returnees have been restricted not to go out of Building 4.

“Meron pong nakatakas kanina (Monday) kasi nagbilangan kami ng bandang alas dos kulang na kami ng apat. Hindi maiwasan na mag-alisan ang iba sa kadahilanan na nagugutom na ang pamilya,” the source who did not want to be named said.

He said they are already having a hard time inside the ICF and are anxious to know when they will be released so they could rejoin their families who depend on them.

Through a phone interview, ICF spokesperson and corrections technical officer II Levi Evangelista said that he does not have any detail yet about the four escapees.

“Wala pa ako mabigay na (details) as of this time, wala pang sinasabi si superintendent,” he said Monday evening.
