Some 354 relief supplies have been distributed by the municipal government of Culion in three sitios in two barangays.

The distribution was personally facilitated by Culion mayor Virginia de Vera and her team.

They were given to families in Barangays Binudac and De Carabao. The food supplies were provided by the provincial government of Palawan.

In Binudac, De Vera handed them to around 328 families living in the sitios of Berg and Alava, while in De Carabao, they were distributed to 26 families in the sitio of Balu-Balu.

The locals of the island barangays have been having trouble in getting food aid due to being far away from the mainland. Because many have been strictly observing quarantine regulations, commercial activity has considerably slowed down.

Culion is an island municipality accessible by outrigger boat and fast craft from Coron, and is home to some 27,000 residents, many of whom are fishermen and farmers. With the current COVID-19 crises, residents are faced with limited commercial activity due to mobility restrictions.
