A 62-year-old man and his two minor children were arrested for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Barangay Aribungos, Brooke’s Point, southern Palawan, around 8:30 p.m. on August 7.
The suspects were identified as Ruben Alian and his children, while the victim of the theft was identified as Jessie Bagona Ibañez.
The Brooke’s Point Municipal Police Station (MPS) said Ibañez’s MIO Sporty Yamaha Scooter was stolen right in front of their home after it was parked around 5 p.m. on Monday.
The Brooke’s Point MPS personnel immediately conducted a manhunt operation and investigation, eventually finding the motorcycle at the back of the suspects’ residence.
“Nakita sa bahay nila. Marami na yang nagrereklamo sa kanila,” Brooke’s MPS source said.
The police source said that the father allegedly makes charcoal, while his children collect scrap and bottles, activities purportedly used as a cover for their theft operations.
“Nag-uuling ang tatay at ang mga bata nag babakal-bote pero modus lang nila para makapag nakaw,” added the source. The mother of the minors is reportedly aware of their unlawful activities.
The three suspects will face charges under Republic Act 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
