The victim, identified only as Ed, a 33-year-old farmer and resident of the same barangay, died after being struck by a speeding Hino dump truck.

After the collision, the driver briefly slowed down but then fled the scene without providing aid to the victim.

A witness quickly acted, chasing down the truck and intercepting it in Barangay San Jose, Roxas.

The driver was detained and brought to the Roxas Municipal Police Station (MPS) for further legal proceedings.

Responding MDRRMO personnel transported Ed to Roxas Medicare Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The truck, which lacked proper registration, has been impounded by the authorities.

The Roxas MPS is currently preparing to file a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide with abandonment against the driver.
