Thirteen outstanding rice farmers and three farmer associations were recognized during the Provincial Farm Family Achievement Day on Monday.

Carmelito Condesa of Barangay Tagumpay, town of Roxas; Rodolfo Gumban of Barangay Cabigsing, Cuyo; Evangelyn Manal, Barangay Tinitian, Roxas; Buenaventura Trinidad of Barangay Pulot Shore, Sofronio Espanola; Virginia Beatingo, Quezon; Dario Gullos, Pulot Center, Sofronio Espanola; Elvera Rosales, Narra. ; Ramiro Evangelista, Eddie Vergara and Evangiline Alonsagay of Isaub, Aborlan were named as outstanding rice farmers.

The outstanding farmers groups were the Quirino Extension Farmers Association in Narra, Cherish Fisher Folk Association of Quezon and the 4-H Club Municipal Federation of Brooke’s Point.

The Caruray Farmers Association was named to the Hall of Fame.

Romeo Cabungcal,officer- in-charge of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist said the event aims to recognize the contribution of the farmers, fishermen, associations and cooperatives in the province.

“Yearly ito but this time ginawa naming na parang big event kasi we want to recognize the effort of our farmers and fishermen in the province. We also gave a plaque of recognition to the outstanding fisher folks and farmers,” he said.

The event is dubbed “Gabi ng Parangal sa Natatanging Magsasaka at Mangingisda” on July 18 at City State Asturias Hotel, Puerto Princesa City.

Theresa Aguilar, regional rice coordinator, said Republic Act 11203 “will ensure food security during times of calamities and rice crisis.”
