The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reports that the country will generally experience fair weather conditions over the next 24 hours, with localized rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
No low-pressure area or weather disturbance is expected to develop into a typhoon within or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the coming days.
The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) continues to affect Mindanao and Eastern Visayas, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Residents in affected areas, particularly in southern Mindanao, should prepare for possible flash floods and landslides due to sustained rainfall.
“Yong ITCZ magdudulot ng mga kaulapan at mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan, pagkulog at pagkidlat sa malaking bahagi ng Mindanao. Ngayon pa lamang, itong southern portion ng Mindanao nakakaranas na ng mga pagulan,” weather specialist Daniel James Villamil stated.
The northeast monsoon (amihan) will bring cloudy skies and light to moderate rains to provinces such as Batanes, Apayao, and Cagayan. Coastal waters in these areas may experience moderate to rough conditions, so caution is advised for fisherfolk and seafarers.
Fair weather is expected in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies throughout the day. However, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are still possible in the late afternoon or evening. Maximum temperatures in Metro Manila may reach up to 32°C.
In Palawan and Western Visayas, mostly sunny skies are forecast, with isolated rain showers due to thunderstorms. Puerto Princesa is expected to reach a high of 33°C.
“Sa mga lugar na hindi ko nabanggit, for Metro Manila and the rest of the country sa mga susunod na araw, asahan naman natin magpapatuloy itong fair weather conditions. Magdala pa rin po tayo ng pananggalang sa ulan dahil hindi natin tinatanggal yung posibilidad ng mga thunderstorms sa hapon hanggang sa gabi,” Villamil also noted.
No gale warning is raised over any of the country’s coastal waters. However, moderate to rough seas are expected over the northern seaboards of Luzon due to the amihan, so small sea vessels are advised to exercise caution.
The northeast monsoon is expected to strengthen by Thursday, bringing colder mornings and light rains to northern Luzon. Mindanao and Eastern Visayas will continue to experience rains as the ITCZ persists in the region.
