Various items linked to the communist group New People’s Army (NPA) were voluntarily surrendered by a former supporter of the rebel group to authorities on Thursday, March 5.
According to a report from the 1st Palawan Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st PPMFC), the individual who surrendered was identified only by the alias “Han,” a former supporter of the dismantled Bienvenido Vallever Command under KLG-South of the New People’s Army in Palawan.
The turnover of the items took place at around 1:35 p.m. under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy Rajah V. Ramos, force commander of the 1st PPMFC, in coordination with the PIU Palawan, PIT Palawan RIU 4B, 401st B MC, and RMFB 4B.
Among the items recovered were one backpack, four green t-shirts marked “Bagong Hukbong Bayan,” ten black hats with a faded red star, seven plain black hats, one bandolier, and three rolls of ribbon in green, red, and yellow.
Ramos stressed that the move reflects the growing awareness among supporters of the movement toward peace.
“This development reflects the growing realization among former CTG supporters and members that peace and progress are achievable through legal and peaceful means. The PNP remains committed to its mandate of maintaining peace and order, and encourages others to follow suit and return to the fold of the law,” the 1st PPMFC.
The Philippine National Police continues to call on other members or supporters of armed groups to return to the government so that peace and development can be fully achieved across the province of Palawan.
