Tropical Depression Emong has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early Saturday morning and no longer has any direct impact on any part of the country, according to weather specialist Grace Castañeda of the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Emong weakened further as it moved away.
It was last spotted 500 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, carrying maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour. It was moving north northeast at a speed of 45 kilometers per hour.
She added that Emong’s strong winds no longer affect any part of Luzon.
“Between 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. ay nasa labas na ito ng ating area of responsibility,” said Castañeda.
“And mapapansin na din po natin na hindi na po hagip ng mga malalakas na hangin na dala nito yung area ng extreme northern Luzon,” she added.
There are no tropical cyclone wind signals in effect across the country. She also said Emong may weaken further into a low pressure area.
Former Tropical Depression Dante, last tracked 640 kilometers north of Itbayat, has also dissipated and has no effect on the country.
A tropical storm outside PAR, internationally named Krosa, was located 2,315 kilometers east of Northern Luzon and is not expected to enter the Philippine area.
“Gaya ni Bagyong Emong and Bagyong Dante ay wala itong epekto sa anumang bahagi ng ating bansa,” said Castañeda.
Still, the southwest monsoon or habagat continues to affect the western side of the country and may be slightly enhanced by Krosa in the coming days.
Rainfall ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters remains possible over Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, which could lead to flash floods and landslides, especially in areas where the ground is already saturated.
For Saturday, most of Luzon—including Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and MIMAROPA—will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. PAGASA said rainfall will be lighter compared to previous days, but isolated heavy downpours are still possible.
In the Bicol Region and Palawan, skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy with chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. In the Visayas and Mindanao, the same conditions are expected, especially in the afternoon and evening. Localized thunderstorms could bring moderate to heavy rains.
For Sunday, July 27, the southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring scattered rains over Zambales and Bataan, while occasional rains are also expected in Ilocos Region, Pangasinan, and Occidental Mindoro.
By Monday, Krosa may slightly enhance the monsoon, increasing the chances of moderate to heavy rains in Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan.
Temperature ranges are forecast between 25 to 30 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila, 27 to 32 degrees Celsius in Cebu, and 27 to 33 degrees Celsius in Davao.
No gale warning was raised as of Saturday, but moderate to rough sea conditions are expected along the western and northern seaboards of Luzon. Small fishing vessels are advised to take precautions.
