An elderly resident is assisted by personnel of the MSWDO in receiving her social pension.

EL NIDO, Palawan — Around 2,896 elderly residents here have received their social pension early from the welfare office of the municipal government for the months of January to June 2020.

Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) focal person Marfel Hermoso said each of the senior citizens each received P3,000 from the P6,000,000 national indigent social pension since May 20.

The social pensions were distributed in the barangays where the social pensioners are residing, she said.

On May 25, they were in the barangays of Maligaya, Corong-Corong, Masagana, and Villa Libertad to distribute to the senior citizens.

Among the recipients of the social pension was 63-year-old Leonora Capistrano of Brgy. Maligaya, who expressed her gratitude, saying the amount would help get her the maintenance medicine she needs during the quarantine.
