Piece Lio has earned a spot in the MICHELIN Guide Hotels’ list of recommended accommodations, one of only 20 hotels in the Philippines recognized for design, service, and hospitality.
The MICHELIN Guide describes Piece Lio as sitting “within the protected Lio Tourism Estate, where Japanese-inspired architecture meets Palawan’s wild scenery.”
Managed by H Hospitality Group, the hotel highlights minimalist design, landscaped gardens, and sunlit rooms while offering a retreat that blends sustainability, local culture, and Filipino warmth.
“Being part of the MICHELIN Guide’s selection affirms our mission at HHG: to create meaningful stays that honor both people and place,” the group said in a statement.
Aside from Piece Lio, The Funny Lion in El Nido also made it to the new batch of hotels cited by the MICHELIN Guide.
The Philippines first entered the MICHELIN Guide Hotels roster last year with six properties. Five more were added in April, and nine new entries were announced this month, bringing the total to 20.
The latest additions include four in Manila, three in Cebu, two in El Nido, and one in Boracay.
Among the newest additions are The Westin Manila, Hotel Okura Manila, City of Dreams’ Nobu Hotel, Grand Hyatt Manila, The Funny Lion El Nido, Nustar Hotel Cebu, Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort, Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort, and The Lind Boracay.
The MICHELIN Guide has long been regarded as the global standard for dining recommendations, but it has also been recognizing hotels since the 1920s. To be included means a property has been identified by experts as excelling in design, architecture, service, and personality.
While the Philippines has yet to secure its first MICHELIN Key—the hotel equivalent of a restaurant star—the recognition of Piece Lio and other new entries signals the country’s growing prominence in the world hospitality stage.
