A 50-year-old tricycle driver was taken into custody for possession of prohibited substances worth ₱94,570 in Barangay Corong-Corong, El Nido, on Tuesday.
Another suspect remains at large, according to the Palawan Police Provincial Office (PalPPO), which did not name them.
The tricycle driver, a resident of Brgy. Masagana in the same town, was nabbed in a joint enforcement operation against illegal drugs by the El Nido Municipal Police Station (MPS), the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in MIMAROPA.
Confiscated from his possession were several small sachets containing white crystalline substances believed to be shabu, cash in different denominations, a private security identification card, and his tricycle. The total weight of the illegal drugs seized from him was 13.51 grams.
The other suspect still at large was the alleged supplier. After he evaded arrest, the El Nido MPS launched a manhunt operation to look for him.
He is facing cases for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Section 5 bans the sale, distribution, or trade of illegal drugs, while Section 11 prohibits the possession of controlled substances.
